Church

"The ultimate purpose of the church is to worship God.
The main ingredient of worship in the Bible is sacrifice."

How much have we sacrificed lately when we worship in church? The sacrifice of praise, acknowledging and thanking God for who He is, the sacrifice of our possession, etc?

Often, we just think of going to church as "getting something" out of the Sunday service and we complain when the music is bad or the sermon was boring (I said we because I have been guilty of the same attitude). We have missed the focus of going to church and worship. Going to church means giving to God what He is worthy of (actively seeking to learn from the sermon as long as the pastor is preaching from the Bible even if it's not entertaining because we need God's truth, worshiping God in singing and in your heart attitude of bowing down to God even if the music is not your preferred style-if we don't praise Him, the rocks will cry out!) and it means being involved with your brothers and sisters in the church (fellowship, actually caring for them in tangible ways).
We're going to church to please God, not the other way round (to please ourselves).

*just want to share what I've learned because I think some of us need this reminder.

Good reminder! It's not about us, it's about Jesus. It has always been about Jesus. =)

That's convicting, Phebe. Thanks for turning our attentions back to God... the only one whom it's all about.
