July 4th celebration

We were invited to a church member's house for a barbecue to celebrate July 4th. It's pretty much a tradition to have bbq's and watch fireworks afterward. Mom decided to add a bit of "Malaysian-ness" to this US holiday by making pulut panggang(grilled glutinous rice in banana leaves). Ready-to-eat panggangs. They were yummy!Pickled japanese cucumbers.Oh, mom also made satay. =)One of the only things that US offers that I will miss when I go back to Malaysia is the cherries. I love cherries! It's time to eat!View of the backyard.Pardon my "smug" look, I had cherries in my mouth. The host Auntie made this American flag cake. Very creative and delicious! Thanks for inviting us! It was fun~The uncle who's cutting the cake just had a granddaughter that day, so he had the honor of cutting the cake. =)
